Tuesday, Weber State senior point guard Dillon Jones was named as one of five Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week recipients for his contributions to the Wildcats’ 61-57 win over No. 23 Saint Mary’s Sunday at Moraga, Calif.
Jones, in the Wildcats’ wins over NAIA Bendectine Mesa and Saint Mary’s, averaged 27.5 points and 12 rebounds per game while shooting 63 percent from the field and making all 18 of his free throw attempts.
Jones is the first Wildcat to receive national player of the week honors since former Wildcats star Damian Lillard did so in 2012.
Jones and his Weber State teammates return to action November 17 against Gardner-Webb at the Atlantic Slam at Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
