(Salt Lake City, UT) — A massive proposed data center development in Northern Utah is being significantly reduced in size. Investor and television personality Kevin O’Leary says the Stratos project in Box Elder County will be cut by more than 20-thousand acres after concerns raised by state leaders. The move follows a request from Utah Senate President Stuart Adams to reduce the project’s footprint by 75-percent. O’Leary says the revised plan removes land near the Locomotive Springs Waterfowl Management Area and includes a commitment to dedicate excess water to help the Great Salt Lake. The project has faced scrutiny over its potential environmental and water-use impacts.
