Weber State Football Notes: 9/11

FARMINGTON, Utah-Monday, Weber State football made news on two occasions.

By virtue of the Wildcats’ 34-17 win over Northern Iowa Saturday at Cedar Falls, Iowa, Weber State rose to No. 7 nationally in the AFCA Coaches Poll and No. 9 in the STATS Perform poll.

Additionally, Weber State junior tailback Damon Bankston and sophomore linebacker Jack Kelly were named the Big Sky Offensive and Defensive players of the week, respectively for their attainments in the win against the Panthers.

Bankston ran for 144 yards and three scores in averaging 6.5 yards per carry against Northern Iowa.

Kelly posted two sacks, including a strip sack, a pair of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery against the Panthers.

Weber State returns to action Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium to face No. 12 Utah.
