HEBER CITY, Utah-Ashley Garner and Peyton Benkhe had 17 points apiece and the No. 2 Wasatch Wasps overpowered No. 18 Spanish Fork 48-37 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs at The Nest. Emily Gwillian had 17 points in the loss for the Dons. The Wasps next face No. 7 West Saturday at 5:50 pm in the state semifinals at The Huntsman Center.
SALT LAKE CITY-Kylee Falatea led the way with 21 points and the No. 7 West Panthers bested No. 10 Salem Hills 62-49 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Thursday. Madisen King had 14 points in defeat for the Skyhawks.
PROVO, Utah-Livia Eyre netted 14 points and the No. 3 Timpview Thunderbirds humbled No. 19 Woods Cross 39-35 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Mari Nichols had 14 points in the loss for the Wildcats. Timpview next draws No. 22 Springville Saturday at 4:10 pm in the state quarterfinals at the Huntsman Center.
SPANISH FORK, Utah-Hattie Templeman posted 14 points and the No. 22 Springville Red Devils upset No. 6 Maple Mountain 45-42 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Jaynee Tanner’s 12 points and 17 rebounds led the Golden Eagles in the loss.
BRIGHAM CITY, Utah-Kaydence Barber recorded 13 points and the No.4 Box Elder Bees pummeled No. 13 Northridge 54-32 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Thursday. Kaylee Hess had a game-high 18 points for the Knights in the loss. Box Elder next faces No. 12 Olympus Saturday at 9:10 pm in the state quarterfinals at The Huntsman Center.
SANDY, Utah-Joss Baker netted 18 points and 8 rebounds and the No. 12 Olympus Titans upset No. 5 Alta 38-37 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Maya Mishmash’s 13 points led the Hawks in defeat.
COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah-Lucy Chin stepped up with 20 points and the No. 8 Brighton Bengals pounded No. 9 Clearfield 65-45 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Thursday. Xiya Yarbrough had 10 points in the loss for the Falcons. The Bengals next face No. 1 Bountiful Saturday at 7:30 pm in the state quarterfinals at The Huntsman Center.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Taylor Harvey netted 24 points and the No. 1 Bountiful Redhawks blitzed crosstown rival, No. 17 Viewmont, 67-54 Thursday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Mara Mickelson led the Vikings in the loss with 21 points.
