Utah State Men’s Basketball Receives Numerous Mountain West Honors

LOGAN, Utah-Tuesday, Utah State men’s basketball received numerous honors after the Aggies won the Mountain West Conference title last Saturday after defeating New Mexico.

Head coach Danny Sprinkle was named the Steve Fisher Coach of the Year while junior wing Great Osobor was named as the MWC’s Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.

Junior guard Josh Udjue was named the co-Sixth Man of the Year.

Osobor and senior guard Darius Brown II each achieved first-team all-conference honors and senior guard Ian Martinez received honorable mention status.

Sprinkle, in his first season as the Aggies’ head coach, led the squad to a 26-5 (.839) record despite welcoming 13 newcomers and 0 points from last season’s team.

Osobor averaged 17.6 points and 9 rebounds per game for Utah State this season. Brown II averaged 12.4 points and 6.4 assists per game for the Aggies on the season.

Uduje averaged 8.8 points this season for Utah State and Martinez recorded 13.3 points on the season for the Aggies.
