IRVING, Texas-Monday, BYU senior graduate cornerback Eddie Heckard was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his contributions in the Cougars’ 27-14 Homecoming win over Texas Tech Saturday.

Heckard recorded an interception, a fumble recovery, four tackles and a pass breakup in victory for the Cougars.

Heckard and his BYU teammates return to action Saturday at Austin, Texas to face the No. 7 Texas Longhorns as the Big 12 season ensues for the Cougars.
