Pres. Nelson Turns 99 September 9

SALT LAKE CITY-Saturday is the 99th birthday of the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Russell M. Nelson.

Friday evening, Pres. Nelson participated in meetings and other duties at the Church Administration Building on Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City.

He and his wife, Wendy Nelson, then met in his office with his children and their spouses and his counselors in The First Presidency, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring.

His office included a display of birthday cards and greetings sent from Latter-day Saints and other acquaintances.

Pres. Nelson has been the president of the Church since January 14, 2018.

Pres. Nelson was called to the Quorum of Twelve Apostles during the Church’s General Conference in April 1984.

Pres. Nelson was born September 9, 1924 at Salt Lake City.
