HEBER CITY, Utah-Longtime Heber City Police Chief Dave Booth has announced his retirement after 11 years of service in the community.
Booth assumed the position in 2012 and emphasized the following matters in his tenure:
- Youth in the community
- The safety of Latinos and open dialogue
- Locally-owned business partnerships
In his tenure, Heber City’s population has increased by 58 percent but experienced a reduction in violent and property crimes.
Under Booth’s leadership, Heber City has experienced
a 55 percent decrease in burglaries
a 48 percent decrease in child abuse
a 42 percent decrease in thefts
a 9 percent decrease in assaults
Booth will be replaced by Parker Sever. Deputy Chief Jeremy Nelson will ensue in his role as Interim Chief until Chief Sever arrives in Heber City.
The community is invited to enjoy an open house with refreshments September 28 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Heber City Public Safety Facility, 301 S. Main, Heber City.
Heber City Mayor Heidi Franco will give a presentation in Booth’s honor at 3:30 pm during the open house.
