Health Officials Report Deadly, Invasive Mosquito In Southern Utah

(St. George, UT) — A potentially deadly type of mosquito is spreading across Southern Utah. The Southwest Utah Public Health Department says the invasive Aedes aegypti mosquito has been reported in St. George, Santa Clara, Washington City, Hurricane and Springdale over the past few weeks following heavy rains in those areas. The Aedes aegypti mosquito is a known spreader of dengue, chikungunya, West Nile virus, yellow fever, Zika and other deadly diseases. It feeds primarily on humans.
