(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Spencer Cox is proposing a 30-point-seven-billion-dollar budget for Utah’s next fiscal year, beginning in July. The plan is slightly below the current 30-point-eight-billion budget set to expire in July 2026 and is described by officials as a “stay the course” framework for the legislature. The budget reflects administration priorities, including expanding the child tax credit for parents of children ages zero to three. It is constrained in part by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, projected to reduce state revenue by about 500 million dollars. Unlike previous years, the proposal does not include an income tax cut.
