Weber State’s Desmond Williams Named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week

OGDEN, Utah-Monday, Weber State senior cornerback Desmond Williams was named the Big Sky Conference co-defensive player of the week for leading the Wildcats to a 35-7 win over Utah State last Saturday at Logan.

This represents only the second time the Wildcats have vanquished the Aggies on the gridiron and the first since 1978.

In the rout, Williams returned an interception for a score and added six tackles and a pass breakup.

The Wildcats, who won their first game against an FBS foe since 1993, return to action Saturday by hosting Utah Tech at Stewart Stadium.

The Wildcats’ victory also caused them to rise to No. 12 in the FCS polls this week.
