OGDEN, Utah-Monday, Weber State junior linebacker Winston Reid was named the STATS Perform FedEx Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats’ 45-7 win over Idaho State last Saturday at Stewart Stadium.

Reid was also honored as the Big Sky Player of the Week.

In Weber State’s rout of the Bengals, Reid forced three fumbles, two strip sacks, seven tackles and four solo stops.

Reid, a native of West Jordan, Utah and graduate of Copper Hills High School, ranks sixth in the Big Sky with 8.3 tackles per game. His four forced fumbles on the season rank second in the conference.

Reid will serve as one of the Wildcats’ team captains Saturday as they conclude their regular season at Northern Arizona.
