Boys Basketball

Region 8

SPANISH FORK, Utah-Corbyn Anderson stepped up with 19 points and the No. 1 in Class 5-A Maple Mountain Golden Eagles outlasted Wasatch 61-59 Saturday in Region 8 boys basketball action. Braxton Tanner added 14 points and 9 rebounds for Maple Mountain, as the Golden Eagles improved to 17-4 and 9-3 in Region 8 play.

Jude Ballstaedt had 18 points in the loss for the Wasps as James Ballstaedt’s squad fell to 8-11 and 6-6 in Region 8 play.

The Wasps have a swift turnaround to the Utah Valley Tuesday as they visit the Class 5-A No. 2 Springville Red Devilis for a 7:00 pm tip-off. Tune into Ty&Ty’s pregame show on 94.5 the Peak and hebervalleyradio.com at 6:40.

Girls Basketball

Region 8

SPANISH FORK, Utah-Aspyn Neumann led the way with 20 points as the Wasatch Wasps edged Maple Mountain 50-47 in Region 8 girls basketball action Saturday. Allie Ray’s 14 points led the Golden Eagles in defeat.

Head coach Norm Hayter’s Wasps’ squad improved to 10-11 and 6-6 in Region 8 play whereas Maple Mountain fell to 13-5 and 10-2 in the region standings.

Wasatch returns to action Tuesday at 5:15 pm at Springville High School against the Red Devils.
