HEBER CITY, Utah-Luke Clawson nailed a 44-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the No. 1 in Class 5-A Salem Hills Skyhawks to a narrow 23-20 win over the Wasatch Wasps Thursday in Region 8 football action at Wright-Tree Stadium.
The Skyhawks repelled a gallant effort by the Wasps by virtue of a 76-yard touchdown run from quarterback Jarret Elmer and an 80-yard kickoff return for a score by Reed Johnson.
Wasps star tailback Zak Thacker amassed 200 of the Wasps’ 251 yards of offense and added a 4-yard touchdown run. By virtue of his magnificence, Heber Valley Radio sportscaster Tyler Moss and Tyler Baird named him as the Point S Tires Offensive Player of the game. Tyler Karl earned Gearhead Guys defensive player of the week honors for his contributions to a generally-strong defensive performance from the Wasps.
Wasatch quarterback Parker Quinton added a 1-yard touchdown run and Ammon Tuttle nailed a pair of field goals as well for the Wasps.

5-A Girls Soccer 1st Round
HEBER CITY, Utah-Quincy Downey found the net twice and Mary Santiago added another goal as the Wasatch Wasps blanked Salem Hills 3-0 Thursday in the first round of the 5-A girls soccer tournament. Anziel Larsen earned the shutout for the Wasps. Wasatch is next in action Tuesday October 15 at Springville at 4:00 pm in the second round of the 5-A girls soccer playoffs.
