Wasatch Cross Country Excels At Royal Run Saturday

ROY, Utah-Saturday, Wasatch girls cross country placed fourth and the boys finished sixth at the 2021 Royal Run hosted by Roy High School and Sand Ridge Park.

The  girls’ team championship was won by Copper Hills with a score of 74. Herriman also posted a score of 74 but the Grizzlies had a lower overall aggregate score among individual runners.

Layton placed third with a score of 102 and Wasatch was fourth with a score of 140.

For the boys, Viewmont and Weber each posted a score of 112 but the Vikings, like the Grizzlies, had a lower aggregate score among individual runners than the Warriors.

Northridge finished third with a score of 122, Fremont placed fourth with a score of 123, Herriman finished fifth with a score of 140 and the Wasps were sixth with a score of 169.

Hailey Low of Layton won the girls’ individual title in a time of 17:52.00 while Wasatch star Allison Munck finished second overall in a time of 18:38.50.

For the boys, Simon Peterson of Fremont won the individual title in a time of 15:48.50. Wasatch standout Jake Giles (16:07.00) placed seventh overall.
