SALEM, Utah-Wednesday, after the first day of competition at the Region 9 track and field championship meet at Salem Hills High School, Wasatch’s boys and girls are each in fourth place.

The boys and girls’ 4 x 200 teams each won Region 9 championships Wednesday. Jake Giles placed fourth in the 1600-meter run, earning points for the Wasps. Sharadan Caldwell placed fourth in the girls’ discus for the Wasps, posting a toss of 105-02. Broke Hunsaker placed fourth in the girls’ high jump with a leap of 4-11. Finally, Nalu Kitashima placed fourth in the boys’ long jump with a leap of 20-02.75 feet. In this event, Carson Guymon also placed. He finished sixth with a leap of 20-01.50 feet.

The boys’ standings are presently as follows:
