SALT LAKE CITY-Per Wednesday news, Utah men’s head basketball coach Craig Smith was appointed to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Ethics Coalition.
The role of this coalition is to promote ethical conduct among NCAA Division I men’s basketball coaches through education, leadership and mentoring.
This group is primarily charged with the following:
- Identifying ethical issues facing Division I men’s basketball coaches and providing general guidance to coaches on possible ways with dealing with issues through educational and reference materials.
- Providing leadership by “walking the walk and talking the talk” in regard to ethical conduct. The coalition is to be vocal concerning ethical issues and affirmatively seeking to build a coalition of coaches committed to ethical behavior.
- Acting as quasi-mentors and sharing resources with other coaches pertaining to ethical issues and concerns. Coalition members are available to consult with other coaches concerning ways to resolve ethical issues.
Smith is joined in this coalition by the following coaches:
