OKLAHOMA CITY-Monday, Utah football standout sophomore cornerback Clark Phillips III was named one of 12 semifinalists for the 2022 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award as confirmed by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame of Oklahoma City.

The award is annually bestowed upon the top defensive back in college football based upon on-field performance, athletic ability and character.

The finalists will be selected November 29 and the winner shall be announced December 8.

Previous Utes to be so honored include Eric Weddle and Andre Dyson.

Phillips leads the nation with five interceptions, including two pick sixes.
