FARMINGTON, Utah-Thursday, Utah State men’s golfer Andy Hess won a pair of matches at the Utah State Amateur to advance to the quarterfinals at the Oakridge Country Club.
Hess will take on teenager Preston Summerhays, the latest generation of the prestigious Utah golf royalty family Friday in the quarterfinals.
The #31 seed, Hess bested #47 seed Riley Morgan in 19 holes while Summerhays, the #23 seed, bested #55 Jacob Wagstaff 3 and 1 as well as #7 Tyler Savage 6 and 4.
The winner of this matchup faces the winner of the Jayce Frampton-Dan Horner matchup at 12:30 pm MDT.
