Trent Pratt Named As BYU Baseball Head Coach

PROVO, Utah-Wednesday, BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe announced Trent Pratt as the new head coach of the Cougars’ baseball program.

Pratt had been serving as the interim head coach at BYU since early April.

Pratt led the Cougars to a record of 16-9 (.640) and 10-6 (.626) in West Coast Conference games.

Pratt had served as the Cougars’ associate head coach for the past four seasons.

He has also served as the program’s hitting coach while also working with the catchers.

In his time with the Cougars, BYU has produced 45 All-WCC honorees, eight All-Region players, five freshman All-Americans and two All-Americans.

Before coming to Provo, Pratt served for six seasons as the assistant coach at Dixie State.

During his playing days, Pratt starred at Tooele High School and later at Arizona State and Auburn.

While with the Tigers, he earned All-SEC honors in his senior season of 2002.

He was drafted in the 12th Round of the 2002 MLB Draft (No. 359 overall) by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Pratt spent four seasons playing with various affiliates in the Phillies’ organization.
