Triple A-West

TACOMA, Wash.-Shed Long Jr. homered and Jantzen Witte added an RBI single in a productive 1st Inning and the Tacoma Rainiers downed Salt Lake 5-4 Saturday at Cheney Stadium in Triple A-West play.

The Bees drew first blood on Jo Adell’s 15th home run of the season, giving Salt Lake a 1-0 lead in their half of the 1st Inning.

The Rainiers led 3-1 after one by virtue of Long and Witte’s heroics.

Dillon Thomas added a 2nd Inning 2-run RBI double to increase Tacoma’s lead to 5-1.

In the 3rd Inning, Michael Stefanic posted an RBI groundout and Scott Schebler an RBI double to pull the Bees to within 5-3.

Salt Lake received a 9th Inning home run from Luis Rengifo but could come no closer than 5-4 in falling to 11-16 on the season.

Justin Grimm earned the win on the mound for the Rainiers in improving to 2-0 on the season. Tacoma improved to 14-13 with the victory.

Pioneer League

OGDEN, Utah-Jakob Goldfarb, Raul Shah, David Maberry and Josh Broughton each homered and the Ogden Raptors clobbered Grand Junction 18-1 Saturday at Lindquist Field in Pioneer League play.

Gavin Weyman earned the win on the mound for the Raptors, surrendering only four hits in five innings of work. The Raptors improved to 12-1 on the season with the victory. Conner Uselton posted an RBI in defeat for the Rockies, who fell to 5-8 with the loss.
