SALT LAKE CITY-Anderson Tejeda broke open a close game with a 9th Inning grand slam and the Round Rock Express sent the Salt Lake Bees to their fourth straight loss with a 10-5 win Sunday at Smith’s Ballpark in Triple A-West play.
The Bees relinquished a 4-0 lead as they received successive home runs from Preston Palmeiro and Jo Adell.
Adell’s dinger was his 11th of the season for Salt Lake.
The Express then ran off six unanswered runs from the 4th-7th Innings on a solo home run from Curtis Terry (4th Inning), RBI singles from Delino DeShields and Eli White (5th Inning) and a 2-run homer from Leody Taveras and a Charles Leblanc RBI single (7th Inning).
A Luis Rengifo RBI triple in the bottom of the 7th Inning pulled the Bees to within 6-5 but Tejeda’s grand slam was the dagger for Salt Lake Sunday afternoon.
The Express improved to 14-8 with the win while the Bees slumped to 9-13.
James Jones earned the win on the mound for Round Rock to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Express and Bees conclude their series Monday with a 1:05 pm opening pitch at Smith’s Ballpark.
Pioneer League
GREAT FALLS, Mont.-Raul Shah homered three times, posting six RBI overall, and the Ogden Raptors overpowered the Great Falls Voyagers 17-10 Sunday at Centene Stadium in Pioneer League play.
Mithcell Miller earned the win on the mound for the Raptors, who are now 7-1 on the season.
Dom Abbadessa homered in defeat for the Voyagers as they fell to 0-8.
Great Falls seeks their first win of the season Monday as the Voyagers and Raptors meet at 1:05 pm at Centene Stadium.
