SALT LAKE CITY-Jose Briceno homered in the top of the 8th Inning and the Albuquerque Isotopes downed Salt Lake 4-3 Sunday at Smith’s Ballpark in Triple A-West play.
The Bees drew first blood in the 1st Inning on a solo home run from Luis Rengifo for a 1-0 lead.
In the 2nd Inning, Salt Lake increased the lead to 2-0 on a passed ball from Briceno as Jake Gatewood scored.
The Isotopes got on the board in the 3rd Inning on a Rio Ruiz single to trail 2-1.
In the bottom of the 4th Inning, Salt Lake increased the lead to 3-1 on a Preston Palmeiro RBI double.
In a productive 6th Inning, the Isotopes received an Alan Trejo RBI single and scored another run on a bases loaded walk, ultimately setting the stage for Briceno’s game-winner.
Jake Bird earned the win on the mound for the Isotopes in his first appearance of the season.
The Bees and Isotopes meet again Monday at 6:35 pm at Smith’s Ballpark.
