SAN MARCOS, Calif.-Friday through Sunday, Dixie State baseball commences its last season in NCAA Division II by visiting Cal State-San Marcos.
The Trailblazers are coming off a 35-19 season in 2019 and will ride with junior right-handed pitcher Justin Dunham in Friday’s opener.
Saturday, Dixie State goes with junior right-handed hurler Jack Gonzales and Sunday, the Trailblazers are represented on the mound by redshirt senior left-handed pitcher Tevita Gerber.
The Trailblazers are No. 17 in the Perfect Game 2020 Division II preseason Top 25 poll.
Dixie State has also received votes in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 40 preseason rankings.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its 2020 NCAA Division II South Central Region preseason poll earlier this week with Dixie State ranked at No. 5.
The Trailblazers are 8-5 all-time on Opening Day in the program’s NCAA Division II era and 7-6 all-time in road openers.
Friday’s match-up against the Cougars is the first on the diamond in program history for Dixie State.
