LOS ANGELES-Monday afternoon, BYU sophomore infielder Andrew Pintar and sophomore left-handed pitcher Cy Nielson were drafted in the MLB Draft.

Pintar was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks at No. 138 overall in the 5th round and posted 17 strikeouts in a closing role for the Cougars in 2022.

Pintar also showed some value offensively as he amassed 8 RBI for BYU on the season.

Nielson was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 8th round at No. 230 overall.

Nielson posted 45 strikeouts in 33.2 innings of work for the Cougars in 2022.

Both Pintar and Nielson are natives of Spanish Fork and each starred at Spanish Fork High School.
