5A State Second Round Playoffs
SPANISH FORK, Utah-Mack Kelson completed 21 of 34 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns as the No. 23 Wasatch Wasps upset No. 7 Spanish Fork 49-42 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday.
Chris Cook added 178 rushing yards and three scores for the Wasps while Crew Erickson hauled in 13 receptions for 124 yards and two scores.
Tavian Edwards recorded two interceptions for the Wasps in victory, including a pick six.
Joshua Buck had a pair of rushing scores in the loss for the Dons.
The Wasps next play in the 5A state quarterfinals Friday at 6:00 pm against the No. 2 seed Timpview Thunderbirds at Timpview High School in Provo.

PROVO, Utah-Helaman Casuga threw three touchdown passes and the No. 2 Timpview Thunderbirds hammered No. 15 East 35-7 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Amini Amone ran for a score in the loss for the Leopards.
PROVO, Utah-Ryan Griffin threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score and the No. 9 Box Elder Bees got past No. 8 Provo 24-21 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Tagai Lesa ran for two scores in defeat for the Bulldogs. The Bees next visit No. 1 Lehi Friday at 6:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.
LEHI, Utah-Jackson Brousseau tossed four touchdown passes and the No. 1 Lehi Pioneers pounded No. 16 Park City 40-6 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Brayden Beyer threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Carson Baynes in defeat for the Miners.
STANSBURY PARK, Utah-Ezra Harris threw three touchdown passes and the No. 4 Stansbury Stallions surged past No. 13 Cedar Valley 36-21 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Joe Lomu ran for a pair of scores in defeat for the Aviators. The Stallions next host No. 21 Olympus Friday at 6:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.
COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah-Nic Brown ran for three scores and the No. 21 Olympus Titans upset No. 5 Brighton 28-20 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Jack Johnson threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score in the loss for the Bengals.
SPRINGVILLE, Utah-Matt McKea threw three touchdown passes and the No. 19 Alta Hawks bested No. 3 Springville 34-27 Friday in the second round of the 5A state playoffs. Ryder Burton’s two touchdown passes led the Red Devils in the loss. The Hawks next visit No. 11 Orem Friday at 6:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.
BOUNTIFUL, Utah-Lance Reynolds threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score as the No. 11 Orem Tigers upset No. 6 Bountiful 35-25 in the second round of the 5A state playoffs Friday. Freddie Fekitoa and Corbin Cottle had touchdown runs in the loss for the Redhawks.
