MURRAY, Utah-Max Russo stepped up with 19 points and the No. 2 Cottonwood Colts downed No. 15 Payson 74-53 in the 2nd round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Friday. Isaac Wolfe’s game-high 27 points led the Lions in defeat. Cottonwood next faces No. 7 Timpview Wednesday at 12:50 pm in the state quarterfinals at Weber State University.

PROVO, Utah-Dean Rueckert stepped up with 23 points and the No. 7 Timpview Thunderbirds waxed No. 10 Salem Hills 66-61 Friday in the 2nd round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Jackson Nelson’s 18 points led the Skyhawks in the loss.

WOODS CROSS, Utah-Chance Dastrup posted 14 points and the No. 14 Orem Tigers upset No. 3 Woods Cross 56-47 in the 2nd round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs Friday. Jaxon Smith had 17 points in the loss for the Wildcats. Orem next draws No. 6 Lehi in the state quarterfinals Wednesday at 2:30 pm in the state quarterfinals.

LEHI, Utah-Cooper Lewis netted 17 points and the No. 6 Lehi Pioneers routed No. 11 Box Elder 72-48 Friday in the 2nd round of the 5A boys basketball playoffs. Jackson McKee’s 17 points led the Bees in defeat.
