SALT LAKE CITY-The Young Women’s organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints honors the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the organization on this day 150 years ago.
On May 27, 1870, the First Young Ladies’ Department of the Ladies’ Cooperative Retrenchment Association, the precursor to today’s Young Women’s Organization, was established.
This will be commemorated by a Face To Face event hosted by the Salt Lake City-based faith’s general Young Women’s presidency, President Bonnie H. Cordon, Sister Michelle Craig and Sister Becky Craven November 15.
They have put forth a challenge to young women throughout the Church prior to this event.
This challenge is known as “My 150.” It consists of doing something good on 150 occasions.
Young women were given several suggestions, such as reading 150 pages of Scripture, indexing 150 names for family history or take 150 names to the temple to do baptisms.
Young women throughout the Church are encouraged to use the hashtag #strivetobe on social media.
