Reportedly, 21 acres were burned by the blaze. Nearly 40 firefighters were called to the scene to combat the flames. Eight homeowners were evacuated and by dusk, seven of them had returned. Firefighters confirmed defensible spacing was instrumental in preserving the properties.

As of 5:00 pm, the fire was not an “active threat” to any structures.

Firefighting efforts have been negated by impromptu micro-bursts of wind. This resulted in a precautionary evacuation from Wasatch County Fire officials.

Wasatch County Fire Public Information Officer Janet Carson confirmed homes above 4800 East were evacuated Monday.

Carson said as of June 1, permits are required for controlled burning in Wasatch County.

Carson said anyone who wants to do a controlled burn should check with Wasatch County Fire dispatch and check if the day in question is a burn day.
