SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed two young missionaries serving in the New Mexico Farmington Mission lost their lives in a traffic accident.
20-year-old Elder Tyson Gene Haycock of Miles City, Mont. and 20-year-old Elder Michael Austin Davis of Corrine, Utah both passed away because of injuries sustained in the accident.
Elder Haycock’s mission service commenced in June 2001 while Elder Davis had been serving since August 2019.
A third missionary in the vehicle, 19-year-old Elder Britton Jeremie Berrett of Roberts, Idaho sustained serious injuries.
Elder Berrett is in stable condition and presently being treated at an Albuquerque, N.M. hospital.
The Church extends its deepest sympathies to the families of these faithful missionarires, the Salt Lake City-based faith confirmed.
The Church extends prayers to the missionaries’ families and friends in hopes that they have served alongside will feel God’s love and peace during this difficult time.
