SALT LAKE CITY-The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced groundbreaking ceremonies for temples at Syracuse and Tooele, Utah Tuesday.
These will be known as the Syracuse Utah and Deseret Peak Utah Temples respectively.
Exterior renderings were previously released, showing the planned designs of these new temples.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Syracuse Temple is slated for June 2021.
Elder Kevin R. Duncan of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside at this event.
The Syracuse Utah Temple is to be constructed on a 12-acre site at the intersection of 2500 West and 1025 South in Syracuse.
The groundbreaking for the Deseret Peak Temple is slated for May 2021.
This event will be presided over by Elder Brook P. Hales of the Quorum of Seventy.
This temple will be built west of the intersection of 2400 North and 400 West in Tooele.
A 20,000-square foot meetinghouse is also planned for the site.
Attendance at this groundbreaking ceremony is by invitation only because of state and local regulations.
