The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Announces Groundbreaking Date for Helena Temple

SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the groundbreaking at its temple at Helena, Mont. will occur Saturday June 26.

The presiding officer at the event is Elder Vern P. Stanfill of the Quorum of the Seventy. Attendance at this site is permitted by invitation only.

A broadcast link will be provided to view the event for Latter-day Saints residing in this temple district.

The Helena Temple will be a single-story structure consisting of 10,000 square feet on a 4.8-acre site.

A new Church meetinghouse will also be built on the property the temple will be constructed on.

Presently, Montana consists of 50,552 Latter-day Saints (4.81 percent of the state population) in 13 stakes and 126 congregations.

Upon completion, this will be Montana’s second temple. The first was dedicated in Billings in 1999.
