Smith’s, Dollar General, Begin To Offer Special Senior Citizens’ Shopping Hours

SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, Smith’s Food & Drug stores confirmed that through the COVID-19 outbreak period, all 132 locations will provide special shopping hours for senior citizens.

At all Smith’s locations, senior citizens will have the exclusive right to shop Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:00-8:00 am.

This is also true of the Smith’s in Heber City, located at 550 N. Main.

This schedule will continue until further notice.

Salt Lake City-based Smith’s confirmed that, for the time being, temporary store hours will be from 8:00 am-10:00 pm for all other customers.

Furthermore, the store is evaluating the expansion of pharmacy hours to open earlier for seniors.

Smith’s will also waive the pick-up fee at the point of transaction, for online orders received curbside for customers whose verified age is 60 years old or older through April 18, 2020.

Since this is the group most vulnerable to COVID-19, other stores, such as Dollar General/Tree (Dollar Tree is located at 1268 S. U.S. Highway 189 in Heber City) are following the same protocol.

These stores are asking non-senior customers to avoid shopping there in the first hour after stores open so that seniors can avoid shopping at times that are busy.
