HB 1007 Challenged In New Utah Lawsuit

SALT LAKE CITY (AP)-Monday, a lawsuit was filed in Utah by parents of schoolchildren who are challenging HB 1007.

This law was passed by the Utah Legislature in April and prevents school districts from enforcing mask mandates without the Legislature’s permission.

Among them was Jessica Pyper, a concerned parent in Utah. She wants school districts to enforce mask mandates if they so choose because she fears that her son, Ryker, who has Type-1 diabetes, is at risk.

Utah Republican Gov. Spencer J. Cox and state Attorney General Sean Reyes did not immediately respond to email and text message requests for comment concerning this lawsuit.
