Salt Lake City Mayor Lays Down Restrictions For Salt Lake City International Airport

SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, Salt Lake City mayor Erin Mendenhall laid down the law at the Salt Lake City International Airport in hopes of reducing large gathering as she seeks to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

After coordination with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mendenhall has implemented the guidelines.

As missionaries continue to arrive from various places in the world, individuals are to pick them up on the second level of the short-term parking lot and stay in their vehicles.

Only one car is permitted to pick up a missionary while airport security “will be monitoring adherence” to these guidelines.

Missionaries will then be directed to the parking garage by airport staff.

These guidelines come in the wake of state and local officials sharing disdain for the mass gatherings that occurred on their social media accounts.

As Monday has progressed, these guidelines are being more meticulously followed than the Church’s instructions were Sunday evening.
