Salt Lake City Airport Announces It Has Reopened

Upon reopening, the first flight from Salt Lake City International Airport, en route to DFW International Airport at 2:54 pm. Travelers are to check with their airline concerning possible cancellations or delays that may occur.

Wednesday afternoon, following a cataclysmic morning, the Salt Lake City International Airport announced it is reopening.

The airport confirmed it has completed its security sweep of the premises and sought to allow passengers through as of 1:15 pm.

The water line in Concourse D has been repaired and all the remaining facilities have been deemed structurally safe.

Per news from the Federal Aviation Administration, a mobile tower transported by this governmental body was to arrive at Salt Lake City Wednesday evening.

The FAA also reports the Salt Lake City terminal radar approach control, which guides aircraft in and out of Salt Lake City and other nearby airports, is temporarily operating on a limited basis out of the Salt Lake Air Route Traffic Control Center.

Travelers are advised to monitor the airport Web site, www.slcairport.com, for the status of passenger operation at the facility.

Because aftershocks are forecast into Thursday, the airport may continue to have problems in the meantime, so check the Web site often.
