(Salt Lake City, UT) — Several Utah politicians who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are objecting to a new Pentagon policy that does not classify their church as Christian. Republican senators John Curtis and Mike Lee are among the elected leaders objecting to the new directive. It comes as the Pentagon cuts the number of recognized religions from over 200 to just 31. The LDS is on that smaller list, but it’s not classified as a Christian faith. Churches that are classified as Christian include Catholic, Baptist, Quaker and Jehovah’s Witness.
