SALT LAKE CITY-With the influx of Afghan refugees scattered throughout the world, Latter-day Saint Charities, the charitable arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is assisting them after their removal from the nation.
Some 5,000-7,000 Afghans are being sheltered at Ramstein Air Base of Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany.
LDS Charities is distributing baby items (diapers, formula, toys) as well as personal hygiene materials, underwear, shoes and jackets.
Thousands of these refugees are slated to go to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, between the communities of Sparta, Wis. and Toma, Wis.
They will be sent to live in communities throughout the United States at that time.
LDS Charities is currently working with the U.S. military to provide food, clothing, diapers and baby formula to the thousands of refugees throughout the nation.
