How Latter-Day Saint Charities Helps The World Food Program During covid-19

SALT LAKE CITY-As part of its collaboration with the World Food Program, Latter-Day Saint Charities is helping fund the WFP’s global distribution of critical supplies during covid-19.

This donation assists in helping to feed schoolchildren in Somalia who cannot obtain meals because of school closures.

An additional $2 million is also bolstering the WFP’s efforts to mitigate supply chain disruptions while delivering necessary medical staff and supplies where they are most needed.

The Somalian government closed schools in April 2020 because of covid-19. This disrupted the routine of many Somali children for having meals throughout the day.

Latter-Day Saint Charities president Sharon Eubank lauded the WPF, saying it has a presence in nations the Church does not.

The donation of Latter-Day Saint charities also helps the WPF get the most out of its global distribution network.

This includes three global hubs, located in Belgium, the United Arab Emirates and China and regional hubs in Ethiopia, Ghana, South Africa, Malaysia and Panama.
