HEBER CITY, Utah-Per an announcement from Smith’s Food & Drug Stores Wednesday, all locations will be open from 8:00 am-8:00 pm to allow workers more time to rest, refurbish the inventory and keep the stores clean.
This includes Heber City’s Smith’s, located at 550 N. Main in Heber City.
The company’s hope is that all grocery workers have access to protective masks and gloves.
Furthermore, Smith’s will be adding plexi-glass partitions at many of its cash registers. Smith’s will also have floor decals at check lanes, instructing shoppers where to stand in line so that there is a sufficiently safe distance between them and other shoppers.
Smith’s parent company, Cincinnati-based Kroger, has enacted paid time off for any workers diagnosed with COVID-19, or for any of them who have been placed under quarantine or in self-isolation with symptoms.
