HEBER CITY, Utah-Per a Monday evening report, Heber City Police Chief Dave Booth, who has served as the city’s chief of police since 2012, has been placed on leave.
This is being done as an internal complaint against him is being conducted.
Per a statement from Heber City manager Matt Brower, “While it is premature to share information about the internal allegation right now, we will share additional information, to the extent possible, if the allegations are substantiated.”
Heber City Mayor Kelleen Potter confirmed the complaint is being taken seriously. Furthermore, Potter asserted she has never needed to question Booth’s competency and his “excellent performance” in this position.
Potter stated the review is to be conducted as swiftly as possible while all laws and procedures will be adhered to regarding the nature of the complaint.
Transparency and privacy will both be applied to this process, Potter confirmed.
Booth was raised in Utah County and commenced his law enforcement career in 1989 in Orem.
He has previously worked in Vernal and Park City and has also served as the chief deputy in the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
In 2019, Booth obtained chief of the year honors by the Utah Chiefs of Police Association.
Booth is noteworthy for proclamations made last year that he would not kneel with Salt Lake City Black Lives Matter protestors while serving as Salt Lake City’s Chief of Police in June 2020.
