Heber City Council Meeting To Discuss Proposal of New High School In Heber City

HEBER CITY, Utah-Per Monday news, the Heber City Council will discuss the proposal of a new high school to be constructed west of Heber City at Tuesday’s council meeting.

This meeting will also entail several pending annexations to bring additional land into Heber City boundaries which are presently unincorporated Wasatch County.

The high school proposal is known as the School Site Annexation. It is reportedly seeking to annex 48 acres of land from Wasatch County into Heber City.

The Wasatch School District is the primary owner of this land.

A neighbor has field a protest and because of this, the Heber City Council, at Tuesday’s meeting, may decide to deny this petition for annexation.

This neighbor, Saratoga Springs-based Timpview Investment Holdings LLC, claims the annexation would violate Utah code as it would place city land amid an island of county land.

Heber City has the right to ignore the protest if they so choose.

Should Wasatch County act in like manner, the annexation can proceed.

Per publicschoolreview.com, Wasatch High School ranks No. 13 in the Beehive State in high school enrollment with 2,344 students.

The only high schools with larger enrollment are as follows and compete at the 6A level as designated by the Utah High School Activities Association. Wasatch presently competes at the 5A level.

Granger High School (3,247 students)

Skyridge High School (2,994 students)

Copper Hills High School (2,777 students)

West High School (2,729 students)

Cyprus High School (2,639 students)

Hunter High School (2,489 students)

Lone Peak High School (2,461 students)

Bingham High School (2,450 students)

American Fork High School (2,410 students)

Tuesday’s meeting commences with the work session at 4:00 pm at Heber City Hall, located at 75 N. Main in Heber City. The regular meeting commences at 6:00 pm.
