Groundbreaking Date Announced For Salvador Brazil Temple

SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the groundbreaking for the Salvador Brazil Temple in August 2021.

A rendering for the temple was released as well Tuesday.

Presiding at the event will be Elder Adilson de Paula Parrella, the Brazil Area President of the Church.

There are presently 1, 429, 935 members of the Salt Lake City-based faith in Brazil. Roughly, 1 in 148 Brazilians are Latter-day Saints or 0.68 percent of the population.

Brazil has 277 stakes of the Church, 35 missions, 359 family history centers and 7 temples.

Brazil’s temples are located in Campinas (2002), Curtiba (2008), Fortaleza (2019), Manaus (2012), Porto Alegre (2000), Recife (2000) and Sao Paulo (1978).
