Groundbreaking Date Announced for Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple

PHONM PENH, Cambodia-The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed the groundbreaking for the Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple is slated for September 18.

Cambodia Phnom Penh Mission President Veasna Kuonno Neang will preside at the event.

Attendance will be by invitation only because of local restrictions.

The single-story structure of 10,000 feet will be built on a 3.16-acre site located on Russian Confederation Street, between the Cambodia Institute of Technology and the Insitution of Foreign Languages near the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

The temple site will be shared with an ancillary building.

This will be the first temple in Cambodia upon its completion.

Cambodia has 15,187 Latter-day Saints, two stakes and four districts.

The Salt Lake City-based faith has had a presence in Cambodia since the 1970’s.
