First Presidency Meets With Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Archbishop

SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

This visit presented an opportunity for The First Presidency and the archbishop to become better acquainted.

The archbishop later visited Temple Square and attended an organ recital at the tabernacle.

Elpidophoros is a native of Istanbul and was elected the Archbishop of America by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of May 2019.

He commenced his service at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City in June 2019.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America consists of 540 parishes, 800 priests and approximately 1.5 million members.
