Elder Renlund Throws Out The Opening Pitch for Orioles Monday

BALTIMORE-Monday, the Baltimore stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sponsored Latter-day Saint night at Camden Yards, the home of Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles.

To commemorate the occasion, Elder Dale G. Renlund, of the Salt Lake City-based faith’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles, threw out the opening pitch.

The Orioles defeated the Rays 5-1 to improve to 48-48 on the season as they seek to remain in wild card contention in the competitive American League East.

Elder Renlund has ties to the Baltimore area as he served as a bishop in the region while doing his medical residency at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Medicine.

His wife, Sister Ruth Renlund, also attended the game and earned a law degree from the University of Maryland’s Francis King Carey School of Law.

The UofM is located 45 miles southwest of Baltimore in College Park, Md.

Traditionally, Latter-day Saint Night at Camden Yards has served as a significant interfaith event for the greater Baltimore community.
