SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, Salt Lake City-based faith The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed that as its temples throughout the world return to full operation, certain temples may be able to be attended without appointments.
Because of the events of March 2020 that have caused tumult throughout the world in certain regions, appointments to attend temples became necessary because of governmental restrictions concerning how many can gather.
In the coming months, the Church confirmed the option for worthy Latter-day Saints to either reserve an appointment at the temple or attend without an appointment, where space is available. This will be based on what will be permitted by local governments in any given area.
Priority will be given to patrons with appointments during this time. Those who attend the temple without a reservation may be asked to wait to perform certain proxy ordinances for the dead.
Appointments will still be necessary for all members who come to receive their own ordinances (endowment and sealing).
Members will receive an email informing them when the option to attend the temple nearest to them without an appointment will begin.
TOKYO-The public open house for the Tokyo Japan Temple commenced Friday June 3 and will last through June 18. The open house will not occur on Sundays June 5 and June 12.
