OGDEN, Utah-Monday, Weber State men’s basketball head coach Eric Duft promoted Dan Russell to assistant coach with the program.
Russell is entering his third season as part of the Wildcats’ staff. He first joined the staff in June 2022 as Duft’s first hire.
In his time with the Wildcats, the squad has gone 38-27 (.585) while former star Dillon Jones became a 1st round selection in the NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder last month.
Russell came to Weber State after three seasons as an assistant at Montana State. Prior to his time at Montana State, Russell was the head coach at Casper College for six seasons, posting a record of 145-52 (.736).
As a collegian, Russell starred at Casper College and NCAA Division II Black Hills State (S.D.) before earning a bachelor’s degree at the University of Wyoming.
While at Laramie, Wyo., Russell worked on Cowboys head coach Heath Schroyer’s staff as a graduate assistant.
