Region 9

SALEM, Utah-Chett Wilson posted the game-winning RBI double and two RBI overall as the Wasatch Wasps downed Salem Hills 4-2 in eight innings Thursday in Region 9 baseball play.

The Wasps’ victory snapped a 13-game losing streak to Salem Hills, dating back to April 15, 2014.

Casey Anderson earned the win on the mound, going the distance by pitching 7.3 innings for the Wasps. Wasatch improved to 9-9 on the season and 6-2 in Region 9 play.

Softball

Region 9

SPANISH FORK, Utah-Payge Armendariz and Kendyl Purdy drove in a pair of runs apiece and the Wasatch Wasps bested Maple Mountain 9-5 in Region 9 softball play Thursday. Armendariz posted two strikeouts in seven innings of work for the Wasps to record the win in the circle. Olivia Aanerud drove in three runs for the Golden Eagles in the loss.

Boys Soccer

Region 9

PROVO, Utah-The Wasatch Wasps outlasted Provo 5-4 in penalty kicks in Region 9 boys soccer play Thursday evening. The Wasps and Bulldogs were tied 2-2 after regulation while Wasatch nailed three penalty kicks to secure the victory. Gilberto Vargas’ two goals led the Wasps in victory.

SALEM, Utah-The Wasatch Wasps pummeled Salem Hills 17-2 Thursday evening in Region 9 boys lacrosse play.
