SALT LAKE CITY-The Las Vegas Aviators swept the Salt Lake Bees, 4-2 and 3-1 Wednesday at Smith’s Ballpark, spoiling the Bees’ home opener.
A doubleheader was necessary Wednesday because of snow on the field Tuesday, making the surface unplayable.
In the first game, Mickey McDonald homered and Drew Jackson contributed an RBI single to lead the Aviators to victory.
Parker Dunshee earned the win on the mound for the Aviators, who improved to 4-3 on the season. Monte Harrison and Michael Stefanic each had RBI singles in defeat for the Bees, who fell to 4-3 in defeat.
In the second game, Dermis Garcia and Christian Lopes contributed RBI for Las Vegas as they improved to 5-3 on the season.
Chester Pimentel earned the win on the mound for the Aviators, recording a strikeout in two innings of work.
The Bees’ only run in the second game came when McDonald committed a fielding error, allowing Chad Wallach to score in the bottom of the 7th Inning.
The Bees fell to 4-4 and hope to get above .500 again Thursday evening for a 6:35 pm opening pitch at Smith’s Ballpark.
